The predecessor of the School of Mechanical Engineering of Yancheng Institute of Technology was established in 1996 by the Department of Mechanical Engineering of Yancheng Technical College and the Department of Mechanical Engineering of Yancheng Vocational University. In order to promote education and teaching reform, the school established Youji College in 2005; in July 2013, the School of Mechanical Engineering, Youji Colleges merge.
In 1958, the college began to enroll college students in the mechanism major, and in 1996 it began enrolling undergraduates. Now there are 8 professional departments of mechanical design and manufacturing and its automation, process equipment, and control engineering, as well as mechanical basic course groups, experiment centers, and engineering training centers. There are 119 faculty members, including 13 with senior professional titles, 46 with deputy senior titles, 53 with doctoral degrees (including current students), 2 provincial teaching teachers, 1 provincial teacher ethics model.
