There is a growing demand for biomedical engineers with interdisciplinary knowledge of medicine, computer science, and medical devices. Such a background is indispensable to meet the demands of the rapidly changing healthcare system, which strives to accommodate the needs of patients and healthcare personnel. This specialty is addressed to inquisitive students interested in biomedical applications of artificial intelligence, big data, mobile and wearable devices, augmented and virtual reality. We encourage students to carry out their research projects or join one of several students’ science clubs. Medical Informatics (MI) focuses on technologies, that impact patient-doctor relationships by effectively collecting, securing, and understanding health data, thereby supporting medical diagnosis and treatment. The courses in this study program are oriented towards these practical aspects of MI.
