Key Summary
Develop broad vision and intuition as you probe the principles and properties of matter, space, and time in our bachelor’s program in Physics. You’ll learn to make interdisciplinary connections between the branches of physics—high energy physics, astrophysics, atomic, molecular, and optics physics, condensed matter physics—and other scientific fields.

Westlake University offers a full range of scholarships and grants to international undergraduate students. Full and partial tuition scholarships based on financial need and merit are both available. All applicants are automatically considered for Westlake scholarships as part of the admissions process. Applicants will be notified about scholarship awards when they receive an admissions decision. Government scholarships and other forms of financial aid are also available to students upon enrollment.

Funded by the public sector, donors, and community members, merit-based grants and scholarships are given to students based on criteria directly related to outstanding achievements in academics and personal development. community services, and other fields.
Admission Scholarship
Westlake University provides a certain number of first-year students with a merit-based scholarship upon enrollment. All applicants are automatically considered for this scholarship once they complete and submit their application according to our admission requirements. The scholarship will be announced at the same time as offers of admission.
Entitlement Grants
Westlake undergraduate students have access to multiple Entitlement Grants. Funded by the public sector, donors, and community members, these grants are designated to award students who demonstrate excellence across a spectrum of fields. Application timeline and methods vary for each grant.
Need-Based
Westlake University offers students with financial needs plenty of solutions. We are committed to making our education affordable for our students. Westlake’s need-based grant for undergraduates is a gift and thus never has to be repaid. Applicants from a range of socioeconomic backgrounds and income levels qualify for need-based aid. Each family’s financial circumstances are unique, and our staff performs a holistic review of each application for aid. All students, regardless of citizenship or immigration status, are able to apply. The application usually takes place in the summer before the new school year starts.

Research Grants and Fellowships
Westlake University provides funding dedicated to encouraging undergraduate students to engage in research. Starting in the summer before the sophomore year, students will be able to apply for research grants and fellowships with their undergraduate research program.
Prepare for the Future with Our Comprehensive Curriculum
During the first two years of your undergraduate journey at Westlake, you will take the same classes with students in your cohort prior to declaring a major. The program is designed to stimulate your intellectual curiosity and create a cross-disciplinary community of peers. Our interdisciplinary core curriculum follows a liberal arts model to build a breadth of knowledge in science, engineering, humanities, and social sciences and will help you make connections between important and diverse global issues.
Science and engineering core courses prepare you for advanced study in all of our five majors and to develop foundational skills in mathematics, quantitative reasoning, computing, and critical thinking. These courses allow you to explore your academic interests across disciplines, make an informed choice about your eventual major, and establish a framework for advanced interdisciplinary research projects.

Along with core courses and electives, each of our five majors also includes experiential programs and opportunities for independent study, theoretical and laboratory research, and interdisciplinary investigations.
At Westlake’s renowned key laboratories, you can work alongside world-class faculty and researchers as you develop valuable research skills while receiving professional guidance and mentoring. Undergraduate students are also encouraged to take advanced graduate-level courses as electives and can choose from over 300 courses in topics from science, engineering, and technology. Under the guidance of a faculty mentor, you will undertake a capstone project culminating in a senior thesis. This project is your opportunity to make meaningful contributions to your field and will establish a starting point for the next phase of your life, whether it be graduate school, entrepreneurship, an industrial career, or another path.
