Introduction

It encompasses all things culture and language, prioritizing the use of non-formal teaching methods, developing the lifelong learner, and providing experiential learning opportunities. Students will learn, recognize, and embrace cultural diversity, internationalization, and language acquisition aspects, preparing them to teach English to non-native speakers on a local, national, and international level. Students can sign up for and automatically receive a Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) certification as part of their track/ concentration specific coursework. In addition, students can select a number of elective courses fitting their individual career aspirations and areas of interest.

Career opportunities include but are not limited to teaching, as for example ESL Specialist (English as a Second Language), TEFL Expert/ Educator (Teaching English as a Foreign Language)/ Teach English abroad, or TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages)/ Teach English in English speaking countries; or non-, or for-profit organizational, institutional, or advocacy roles, as for example Language Support Specialist, Success Advocate, Global/International Affairs Planning and Management, and/ or Culture, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

This track/ concentration also can serve as preparation for graduate school to further students’ studies and work in allied areas of their chosen field.
