Create smart technology with social impact
Challenging problems, practical and creative solutions: during the Creative Technology programme, you will learn to translate end-user needs back into your product. You will convert technological knowledge into smart, practical solutions that make life more pleasant, easier, better, nicer and sometimes even completely different. You are able to reflect on the impact of technology on society and taught in modern labs by top scientists who share with you the latest scientific developments.
Year 1
From the first year, you will work on real-life issues. You will work together in multidisciplinary teams, searching and analysing until you have found the core of an issue, and then developing solutions that make a difference. You will create technical solutions that are well thought out, look good and are socially relevant.

Year 2
The second year you will deepen your knowledge and skills. We will kick off with a elective in Humane by design, Smart technology or Interactive media. Next, we will focus on themes such as Intelligent interaction design, From idea to society, and processing and visualising data.
Humane by design is offered at VU Amsterdam and Smart technology and Interactive media are offered by the UT. The electives are open for all Creative Technology students.

Year 3
In the third year, you shape your curriculum in line with your interests. You can study abroad or follow a minor, for example Data Science at VU Amsterdam. In the second semester, you work independently on a final research project. The topic of your project relates to the subjects you have studied and the themes of the CreaTe programme as a whole.

After the bachelor Creative Technology you design and realise solutions.
After completing the bachelor Creative Technology study, you will know all there is to know about subjects that are important to the future of our society. You could be the one designing and implementing solutions for urban flooding, so that everyone keeps their feet dry when sea levels rise. Perhaps you are the creative brain behind a new robot with emotional awareness or you are designing a 3D printer that produces an artificial hip. In short: whether you choose to continue your studies or take advantage of the many career opportunities, your work will have social impact!
What can you do after your Bachelor’s degree?
Further your education
After your bachelor's degree in Creative Technology, you can either enter the job market directly or specialise further with a master's programme. At VU Amsterdam, for example, you can progress to a master's degree in Artificial Intelligence. At UT you can progress to a master's degree in Interaction Technology, Embedded systems, Data science.
Start your career
If you are a Creative Technology alumnus and you want to start working immediately, there are plenty of job opportunities. Get started as an IT trainee or innovation developer in a small or large company. You can also work in product development, communication or as a web designer in an IT company. Or you could go to work in your own creative start-up.
