Key Summary
With the intensive development of international relations and rapid innovation exchange, logistics solutions and the expansion of logistics companies become particularly important in the exchange of goods and services. In Lithuania, the field of logistics occupies a significant part of the economy. Lithuanian carriers and freight forwarders are known and valued far beyond Lithuania’s borders. Large-scale projects are being implemented in Lithuania to strengthen the country’s logistics potential and opportunities. Competent logistics managers are needed to coordinate business activities and projects in the bioeconomy sector. The goal of the study program is to train business logistics specialists capable of creatively applying the results of fundamental and applied scientific research in making and implementing innovative solutions for the improvement and development of the bioeconomy sector and business logistics, especially in rapidly changing business environments. Upon completing this program, graduates will be able to start their own businesses and work as logistics department managers, responsible for managing logistical processes of business enterprises, encompassing both the movement of material goods and related information flows.
Upon the completion of the study programme, you will be able to:
- Explain the social science theories, describe the logistics technologies, and principles of modeling and designing the logistics systems on the basis of the fundamental and applied research, and apply them to the bioeconomy industry companies and logistics enterprises under the conditions of uncertainty.
- Analyze and critically assess the ideas for the improvement of business logistics management, formulate the arguments and assumptions for implementation of the ideas, prepare and apply innovations in business logistics, and management of the business logistics technologies necessary for the improvement of the economic, social, and environmental performance.
- Model and design the logistics systems and prepare the measures for the movement of material assets and biological substances within the logistics chain necessary for the coordination and improvement of logistics at the bioeconomy companies and of the operations of other auxiliary sectors.
- Deal with complex non-routine business management problems, and make and implement innovative strategic business management decisions under the changing conditions in the bioeconomy sector and logistics companies.
- Use the research knowledge and research experience as well as the skills of systematic and strategic thinking for an independent professional activity or research work in the area of logistics.
- Make innovative decisions in business logistics taking into account their ethical aspects and the possible effect on the society and environment.
- The programme graduates will be able to work as Heads of Logistics Departments of Business Enterprises in the Bioeconomy Sector, Heads of Logistics Service Providers and their Departments, Logistics Managers of other spheres, Logistics Consultants and Specialists of Logistics Associations, Logistics Consultants and Specialists of other Business Associations. The Program Graduates will be empowered to start and develop a logistics services business nationally and internationally. The Graduates have an opportunity to pursue doctoral studies and obtain a doctorate in social sciences after 4 years of full-time or 6 years of part-time study.
