Key Summary
Introduction
We live in a changing context, in which relocation, geopolitical tensions, and technological and communication globalization have replaced the great cohesive meta-narratives with fragmented narratives. The role of history, in all its dimensions, is therefore fundamental when it comes to building a coherent account of our reality and understanding where we come from, where we are going and where we can go.
Historians therefore become researchers, analysts and interpreters of what has happened, what is happening and what can happen. Their field of action is almost as extensive as that of human action, and therefore they can practice their profession in the most diverse environments. For this reason, it is essential that they are trained with a broad perspective, with an emphasis on critical thinking and the ability to analyze themselves, and providing them with the necessary intellectual tools to continue their learning throughout their lives. Undoubtedly, they contribute significantly to the transformation and evolution of society.
