Genetic engineering is a huge achievement of scientific research that aids in solving worldwide problems. Using the methods of gene transfer, natural evolution is speeded up, therefore it is possible to create plants that are resistant to pests, reduce starvation in poor countries, and also to find medications against previously incurable diseases.
Bioengineering combines two important research fields – Natural sciences and Engineering. The professionals in this area use the knowledge of Engineering and Technologies in Medicine and Biology.
The program aims to prepare professionals who possess fundamental knowledge in both natural sciences and engineering and are capable of using theoretical knowledge when solving practical problems.

What Will Students Learn?
Students will acquire fundamental knowledge and skills in microbiology, biochemistry, cell biology, gene and biochemical engineering, and the modeling of biological systems.
Students will be acquainted with the technological processes and will understand the importance and influence of engineering solutions on development of the society. Students will learn to think critically and creatively and will be able to apply the acquired practical knowledge both in industry and scientific research institutions.
Students will be able to carry out individual practical projects and analyze and present the obtained results.
A Bachelor of Bioengineering can work at the companies producing the pharmaceutical and molecular biology products, also in industry dealing with the agriculture, food technology, and bioenergy. In addition, graduates are able to work at governmental organizations as well as the research institutes and Universities or continue studies at the Master programmes in bioengineering, biotechnology, or related disciplines of the Life Sciences and Engineering.
4 years (8 semesters), internship included in the program. Graduation is finalized with the defense of the Final project.
