Introduction
The mission of the study program "Geography of Tourism" derives from the mission https://fsu.valahia.ro/programe-academice/
The structure of the University of Wallachia in Targoviste and of the Faculty of Humanities the institutional component of which it is a part, is a didactic and research one.
Thus, the mission of the "Geography of Tourism" study program aims to:
- the development of the educational system to be continuously compatible with it is practiced in the European Union, so university graduates should be recognized as European specialists;
- satisfying customer requirements until using an educational process performing, based on new information and communication technologies;
- attracting students to scientific research activity through their involvement in national and international scientific projects;
- the training of specialists, and teaching staff, with higher education in the fields of geography and tourism;
- the training of specialists and researchers in specialized institutions in the field of tourism and geography
After completion of the program, graduates can find employment opportunities in the field of research, secondary education, and tourism agencies.
A fully accredited high education institution awarded with the label „High Degree of Confidence” by the Romanian Ministry of Education, Valahia University is a comprehensive institution offering you study degrees in law and public administration, business and economic sciences, electrical engineering and electronics, information technology, environment, and food sciences, material and mechanical engineering, sciences (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry), history, geography and tourism, political sciences and media studies, Romanian and foreign languages (French, English), Orthodox theology, education, music and musical pedagogy, trade, tourism and services, and agriculture. Some of our study programs are taught in English or French and the largest share of them is in Romanian with a preparatory year of Romanian language offered in the first year of studies.

A. Goals generated
- Training of specific in-depth skills, abilities, and knowledge field of study - Geography of tourism.
- Development of specific knowledge, reproduction, and understanding capacities in the field of study considered as a whole, of the way of establishing relations with knowledge from other disciplines and professional areas, familiarization with the most recent developments and professional applications in the field.
- Understanding and applying fundamental investigation principles and methods specific to the field of Geography and tourism.
- The use of various ways and means of written and oral communication, including in a foreign language.
- Use of information systems.
- Ability to evaluate complex problems ~1 to communicate 1n way effectively the results of own assessment.
- Initiative in analyzing and solving problems.
B. Cognitive objectives
- To know the specific terminology of the domain.
- To know concepts/theories!processes/phenomena, as well as specific basic methods
Geography and tourism. - To know the components of the instructional-educational process in the field of Geography and tourism.
- To know the forms of organization, programming - planning, recording, and evaluation of activities with a geographical and touristic profile.
- To know methods/techniques/procedures, for collecting profile information, for processing and analysis of geographic data in a given context.
C. Application-practical objectives (instrumental-operational)
- To be able to interdisciplinary analyze the different forms of manifestation of processes and phenomena in the field of tourism geography.
- To acquire the ability of correct expression, coherence, and logic compatible with subsequent professional requirements.
- To develop the ability to correlate the diversity of knowledge acquired along the way study path.
- To be able to identify and use new sources of information necessary for solving new problems;
- To be able to creatively apply the knowledge acquired in college, in situations of various professionals.
- To have the ability to efficiently and practically organize your professional activity.
Scholarships and Funding
What level of study does the scholarship cover?
The scholarship applicant can choose from any of the following three study cycles in accredited higher education institutions in Romania:
- bachelor’s degree: bachelor’s degree programs are addressed to graduates of high school studies or pre-university studies at the end of which they obtained a baccalaureate degree or equivalent, as well as candidates applying for further university studies in Romania. The complete program runs for 3-6 years, depending on the specialization followed, and ends with a bachelor’s exam;
- master’s degree: master’s degree programs are addressed to undergraduates, run for 1 year, 1.5 years, or 2 years, and end with the dissertation exam;
- Ph.D.: doctoral programs are addressed to graduate students or equivalent and run for 3-5 years, depending on the profile of the chosen faculty, and end with the presentation of a Ph.D. thesis. Admission to a Ph.D. and obtaining a scholarship are conditioned by an entrance examination.
