Key Summary

About: The PhD in Computational and Applied Mathematics focuses on developing advanced mathematical models and computational techniques to solve real-world problems. This program emphasizes research in areas like numerical analysis, optimization, and mathematical modeling, providing students with the tools to innovate and apply mathematical theories across various disciplines.
Career Outcomes: Graduates can pursue careers as researchers, data scientists, or analysts in fields such as finance, engineering, and technology. Opportunities also exist in academia, governmental research institutions, and private sector organizations.

Introduction

The study program combines studies with active work in the field of mathematics and with solving problems. The problems students solve come from real life. The methods used for solving the problems benefit from new possibilities of computing and reflect current progress in the field of applied mathematics. Graduates find their employment in research departments of software companies and industry companies, in science institutions, or possibly at universities.

The doctoral study program is a part of the Doctoral school that integrates the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of Charles University, the Institute of Mathematics of the Czech Academy of Sciences, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science of VSB – Technical University of Ostrava, and IT4Innovations National Supercomputing Center.
