Key Summary
The mission of the university studies program Game Art (Digital Game Art) is creation, applied research, and education.
Throughout the two years, you will learn about video game history, artistic trends, and their contemporary developments and you will have the chance to reproduce 3D objects using 3D printing technologies.
The Game Art Master’s Programme at the Faculty of Arts and Design, West University of Timișoara, prepares advanced digital artists for the video game and media industries. The curriculum combines creative practice, technical innovation, and applied research, offering training in concept art, 2D/3D digital modelling, character and environment creation, animation, and game engines.
Students develop strong artistic and analytical skills, gain expertise with industry-standard tools (Maya, Blender, Unreal/Unity), explore contemporary trends in visual arts and game design, and build a professional portfolio aligned with international standards. Optional modules and complementary disciplines ensure flexible learning pathways and allow students to tailor their artistic profile.
Graduates are equipped for careers such as Digital Artist, 3D Modeller, Character Artist, Environment Artist, and Digital Game Designer, and are prepared to work either independently or within multidisciplinary teams in the global creative industries.
You will also learn about advanced 3D implementation methods specific to the implementation of spaces, landscapes, objects and vehicles; and about the process and principles of 2D and 3D animation such as body movement, kinematics, etc.
Thus, by the end of your study cycle you will be able to create a digital game story by writing a detailed plot and storyboard with game descriptions and objectives. And, moreover, you’ll be perfectly capable of applying a variety of visual techniques to design graphic material and combine graphic elements to communicate concepts and ideas.
