Introduction

Master in Islamic Finance and Banking

The Master in Islamic Finance and Banking program is designed to produce highly ethical and knowledgeable graduates in Islamic finance and banking who can contribute to the industry and society.

Master in Islamic Finance and Banking curriculum

The program is a 42-credit-hour program, consisting of 30-credit-hours of coursework and 12-credit-hours of a research paper. Students are required to take 8 core courses and 2 electives before they are allowed to write their dissertation. In which they are expected to demonstrate their ability in applying the knowledge gained as well as to enhance their writing and other soft skills.

Faculty

The program will be taught by faculty members and visiting professors in of Islamic Business School who are experts in their own field and who are vast teaching and practical experience.

Teaching Style

A method of teacher-centered and student-centered is used for curriculum delivery. Lectures, discussions, seminar, field projects, individual and group work, presentation, and problem-based learning are some of the common instructional method used to enhance studentsโ€™ learning experience. Students are expected to be more independent in their learning as the curriculum progress.

Career opportunities

Graduates of this program could further their current executive career or move to management level position at both private and government.

Entry requirements

Admission into the program can be granted based on the criteria specified below:

  • A Bachelorโ€™s degree with Honours from University Utara Malaysia or any other institution of higher learning recognized by the University Senate with a CGPA at least 3.00; or
  • A Bachelorโ€™s degree with Honours from Universiti Utara Malaysia or any other institution of higher learning recognized by the University Senate with a CGPA less than 2.75 and at least two (2) years of relevant working experience; or
  • Any other equivalent qualification recognized by the University Senate; and
  • Fulfill the English Language requirement as set by the University Senate
