Key Summary
Introduction
Students acquire expertise in not-for-profit sector management, strategic thinking, and the ability to innovate for social impact. Our teaching methods include interactive sessions, case studies, and real-world projects or internships, ensuring practical, hands-on learning. Shape their professional path with elective subjects that align with their career goals, supported by our guidance on complementary course options.
The course provides theories, models and practical case studies in order to understand the complex nature of not-for-profit organisations including grant writing, fundraising, volunteer management, advocacy, and the skills to measure social impact. Students also develop an understanding of the social economy and its economic and political context, and are introduced to ways of thinking systematically about the challenges facing society while developing innovative solutions to address these challenges.
Career options include managing non-government or not-for-profit organisations, working in the field of corporate social responsibility, or in government, particularly in roles that work with community or not-for-profit organisations in areas such as social and community welfare, environment advocacy, arts and culture, fundraising, education, international aid and development, professional associations and unions.
