Adolescence is a period of major developmental change. Under which conditions do young people grow up to be sociable, well-integrated, confident, healthy and happy adults? Which social changes are crucial for their development? Why do some young people develop well, while others face issues?

As a graduate of our Master’s programme, you will be able to build bridges between perspectives from different disciplines. You can work in multidisciplinary teams, implementing and evaluating social policies and interventions concerning youth.
You will be fit for a variety of jobs in the field of youth care, youth policy and youth research. You can work for the national, provincial or municipal government, in youth care or youth health care, in the education sector, in academia or at institutes focused on the development, application and implementation of knowledge and research.

One of the possibilities after you graduate is to obtain a PhD from Utrecht University or from another university in the Netherlands or abroad. PhD students conduct scientific research for a period of four years.
