Key Summary
About: The B.Sc. in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence at Nuremberg University of Technology (UTN) gives a foundation in computer science and AI. Early modules include programming, algorithms, data structures, software engineering and data management with project work from the start. From semester four you choose electives (machine learning, robotics, computer vision). Semester six is a bachelor’s thesis project. UTN emphasizes interdisciplinarity, internationality and digitalization.
Career Outcomes: The program prepares you to enter the workforce or pursue a Master’s at UTN. Potential roles include software engineer, machine learning engineer, data scientist and robotics or computer vision specialist. Research and development.
The Bachelor’s program in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence provides a strong foundation in computer science alongside a deep understanding of modern AI technologies.
Core topics in the early semesters include programming, algorithms and data structures, software engineering, data management and the theoretical foundations of computer science. Students are introduced to core concepts of artificial intelligence and apply them in project work from the start.
From the fourth semester, students can choose elective modules to further develop their individual academic profile, with potential focus areas including machine learning, robotics and computer vision.
Have you completed your secondary school education and are interested in mathematics, computer science, and artificial intelligence? Do you want to understand how intelligent systems work and contribute to the technologies of tomorrow?
Then start your studies in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence at UTN.
The programme prepares graduates for a wide range of career paths, including entering the workforce or pursuing a Master’s degree at the University of Technology Nuremberg (UTN).
- Small learning groups and individual feedback create opportunities for close interaction with instructors and professors.
- UTN’s teaching and learning approach combines small learning groups with varied assessment formats, including assignments, final projects and oral examinations.
- Specialised modules allow students to explore different academic fields and develop their individual interests.
- Interdisciplinary and research-based approaches enable students to work on practical problems and develop solutions collaboratively.
- Studying at UTN means studying in Nuremberg, a dynamic city in the heart of the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region.
The bachelor’s programme is taught entirely in English and has a standard duration of six semesters, comprising 180 ECTS credits. As a full-time programme, it requires approximately 40 hours of study per week.
In the first semesters, students build a strong foundation in computer science and mathematics. Topics include programming, algorithms and data structures, software engineering, data management and the theoretical foundations of computer science. At the same time, students are introduced to core concepts of artificial intelligence and apply their knowledge in project work.
Starting in the fourth semester, students can choose from a range of elective modules to tailor the programme to their individual interests and explore selected areas of computer science and artificial intelligence in greater depth.
In the sixth semester, students complete a bachelor’s thesis through an independent research or development project addressing a current challenge and applying their knowledge to real-world problems.
