About: The Bachelor of Technopreneurship With Honours at Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM) blends management, technology and technopreneurship. It covers venture framing in terms of people, opportunity, context and deal, and delivers 24 subjects to build skills for startup creation, innovation, and technology management. UTeM has strengths in engineering, IT, management technology, green technology, systems engineering, human-technology interaction and emerging technology, and engineering programs accredited by the Washington Accord.
Career Outcomes: Graduates may start technology businesses as founders or technopreneurs, or work in finance, consultancy and education, or take roles in product management, business development, innovation management and tech commercialization.
The course discusses issues and concepts such as framing of ventures in terms of people, opportunity, context, and deal. Students will be equipped with management, technology, and technopreneurship knowledge. The specialty of this program lies within the 24 subjects offered which totally focus on developing the students to be the real technopreneur.
BTEC students will participate in two business plan subjects; one which is related to general business venture and another specializing in the technology-based business venture. This will help students to start up business while still pursuing their degree or upon graduation. The BTEC students will be assist in seeking business partners and venture capital to turn their business ideas into reality. Occasionally business matching events will be organized to support the above intention.
CAREER PROSPECT
The career prospect for these graduates may be categorized into two areas. They could be successful persons who start a business, especially in a technology-based entity. They could also be an intelligent worker in any entrepreneurship supporting industries such as financial institutions, consultancy, and advisory bodies, education, training providers, etc.
