Key Summary
About: The Postgraduate degree in Platform Engineering and DevOps with Kubernetes is offered by the UPC School, the continuing education center of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, delivering proprietary masters and postgraduate programmes for professionals who want to update knowledge, acquire skills, or redirect careers. The provided introduction was incomplete.
Career Outcomes: Graduates can aim for Platform Engineer, DevOps Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer (SRE), Kubernetes Administrator, Cloud Engineer, or CI/CD Engineer roles. These paths use skills in container orchestration, automation, continuous delivery, cloud platforms, and infrastructure as code. Employers include cloud providers, SaaS vendors, enterprise IT teams, and consultancies worldwide.
Why this program?
This postgraduate program in Platform Engineering and DevOps with Kubernetes is designed to make you one of the most in-demand profiles in the technology sector: a specialist in Platform Engineering and DevOps with Kubernetes.
Unlike other programs, here you won't just learn tools, but you'll gain a comprehensive understanding of how to design, build, and operate real-world , Kubernetes-based internal development platforms (IDPs) . From day one, you'll work with practical case studies that replicate enterprise environments, covering the entire lifecycle: cloud infrastructure, automation, GitOps, observability, and multi-cluster architectures.
The training program is structured to progress rapidly from essential fundamentals— DevOps , programming (Go, Python, Bash), networking, Git, and cloud computing with AWS, Azure, and GCP—to more advanced Platform Engineering capabilities, such as operator development, hosted control plan architectures, serverless environments , and multi-cloud deployments. Kubernetes is the core of the program, with an in-depth, hands-on approach that allows you to understand its internal architecture and build a cluster from scratch, working with all its key components: networking, storage, authentication, and workload management in real-world environments.
Throughout the program, you'll work with the most widely used tools in the industry—such as Terraform , Helm, ArgoCD, Prometheus , Grafana , OpenTelemetry, Istio, Traefik, HashiCorp Vault, External Secrets Operator, Crossplane, Tekton, and KEDA, among others—in a hands-on learning environment that combines applied theory, live demonstrations, and guided labs on multi-cloud infrastructures . This will allow you to gain solid experience that you can immediately apply to your daily professional work.
Upon completion, you will be prepared to take on roles such as Platform Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) or Kubernetes Architect , and with the necessary knowledge to obtain recognized official certifications (CKA, CKAD, CKS, Terraform Associate or Vault Associate), accelerating your professional progression.
- DevOps Fundamentals, Platform Engineering, and Infrastructure Programming
- Cloud Computing, Multicloud, and Infrastructure as Code
- Containers and Kubernetes Core. OCI Ecosystem
- Kubernetes in Production and Cloud Native Ecosystem
- Observability, GitOps, CI/CD and Advanced Networking
- Advanced Platform Engineering: Operators, Serverless and Multi-Cluster
- Final project
- Understand and apply DevOps and Platform Engineering principles to design Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs) that improve the Developer Experience, establishing golden paths, DORA metrics, and organizational structures based on Team Topologies. Students will be able to define an organization's platform strategy.
- Master multi-vendor cloud infrastructure and its declarative management, provisioning and operating resources on AWS, Azure, and GCP using Terraform, with best practices in state management, modularization, testing, and CI/CD. Utilize artificial intelligence to develop tools, automation, and define infrastructure as code. Students will be able to design and maintain multi-cloud infrastructure in an automated and auditable manner.
- Design, deploy, and operate Kubernetes clusters in production environments , gaining a deep understanding of the architecture (control plane and data plane), the fundamental objects (workloads, storage, networking, RBAC), and the specific features of each cloud provider (EKS, GKE, AKS). Students will be able to build a cluster from scratch and operate managed clusters.
- Implement comprehensive secrets management, security, and observability strategies, deploying HashiCorp Vault and External Secrets Operator for centralized credential management, and a complete observability stack (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry) for monitoring, alerting, and troubleshooting distributed platforms.
- Establish continuous delivery flows based on GitOps and advanced networking, implementing ArgoCD for declarative reconciliation, Tekton for CI/CD pipelines, and service meshes (Istio, Traefik) for advanced traffic management. Students will learn to configure progressive deployment strategies (canary, blue/green) with automatic rollback based on metrics.
- Build and operate advanced multi-cluster and multi-cloud platforms , developing custom operators with Operator Framework, managing the cluster lifecycle, and orchestrating distributed deployments. Students will be able to design Disaster Recovery architectures with Velero and cross-region failover strategies.
