The Programme

The degree course in Computer, Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering was established in compliance with the latest legislative reforms of university courses and represents the most recent development in a well-established tradition.

The degree course is organized into three modules:

• Computer Engineering module
• Electronics Engineering module
• Telecommunications Engineering module

The training activity aims to provide the future graduate with a good basic training and a broad spectrum engineering preparation through the teachings foreseen in the first and second year, which are common to all three curricula, and a sector-specific preparation in the third year.

The curriculum-specific training activities in Computer Engineering include the study of operating systems and computer architectures, databases, advanced programming and computer networks.

The specific training activities of the Electronic Engineering curriculum include electromagnetism, analogue and digital electronics, electronic measurements, sensors, electronic systems and renewable energy sources. The specific training activities of the curriculum in Communications Engineering include the study of information transmission and processing systems, telecommunication networks, applied electromagnetism and photonics. An important role is played by the student's free choice of activities, which, depending on his or her aptitudes and in view of a specific Master's degree course or integration into the working world, can guide his or her training in the most appropriate methodological or applicative contexts. The training activity is divided into a limited number of teaching modules, each of which includes classroom lessons, classroom and/or laboratory exercises, study or individual practice, and which give rise to training credits (CFU) that the student obtains through profit exams.

The course benefits from the direct contacts that research groups in Information Engineering have with the most advanced national and international realities and from the close connection with a world of work that requires more graduates than those available today.

What to expect upon graduation

The graduate's training profile allows him/her to operate in the fields of design, development, engineering, production, operation and maintenance of computer, electronic and telecommunications systems. Specific attention is paid to the ICT scenario and the pervasive use of these technologies in all sectors of production and social life. Therefore, the natural professional outlet of the graduate is to carry out activities both in companies that design and/or produce systems and equipment and in entities that provide services in the multiple fields of ICT. The aim is to encourage the future graduate's integration into the world of work also through the offer of company internships, for which there is a consolidated tradition with a large number of companies.

The employment opportunities and professional outlets are extremely positive: the long observation of graduates' careers and the data from the Alma Laurea Consortium testify to the success of their integration into the world of work. After passing the State Examination, the graduate in Information Engineering can enrol in the Register of Engineers Section B (Junior Information Engineer).
