Introduction

The aim of the course is to guarantee specialized training in the philosophical field in the belief that the millenary tradition of philosophical studies remains essential to offer contemporary society a horizon of reflection and critical awareness. Philosophical training allows you to develop decisive orientation and analysis skills in many public activities as well as in professional consultancy and management activities. The study of philosophy promotes the acquisition of a mental habit particularly versed in the analysis of problems, in their classification and correlation, and in the vision of innovative solutions, qualities required in all contexts of a complex society like today's. To guarantee the highest level of training in the philosophical field, the Universities of Trieste and Udine have integrated the scientific and teaching skills of their teachers, thus presenting a varied and structured training offer. In particular, the in-depth study of theoretical and moral disciplines - very well represented in the University of Trieste due to consolidated tradition - is combined with the scrupulous critical investigations of the history of philosophy which constitute the pre-eminent aspect of Udine's contribution to the degree course. In fact, several courses in the M-FIL/01 - Theoretical Philosophy sector and several courses in the M-FIL/03 - Moral Philosophy sector are activated, configured starting from different settings; the courses in the M-FIL/06-07-08 sectors (history of philosophy) cover the entire range from ancient thought to contemporary philosophy. Furthermore, the teachings of 'special' philosophies are widely represented and concern the philosophy of language, the logic of social sciences and mathematical logic, the philosophy of law, political philosophy, the history of political thought and the history of pedagogy. In the aesthetic field we find courses in philosophy of art, philosophy of music and theory of literature. Finally, students have the opportunity to follow courses in ancient, medieval, modern and contemporary history, including the history of gender. In general, the overall structure of the course, with large blocks of elective courses, allows students to form a study plan oriented according to their individual intellectual interests from an interdisciplinary perspective. Furthermore, the synergy between the teachers of the two universities has made it possible to establish a research doctorate in historical and philosophical studies which opens up the possibility of dedicating themselves to research to the best master's degree students.
