Introduction

The inter-university master's degree course in Historical Studies from the Middle Ages to the Contemporary Age is active from the academic year. 2012/2013 and results from the merger of the homonymous LM activated at the University of Trieste from 2009-2010 with the Historical Sciences component (LM-84) of the interclass LM in Historical and Philosophical Sciences activated at the University of Udine from 2009-2010 . For both courses, the transition to the inter-university modality was determined by a number of factors, such as the already active collaboration achieved between the two universities (both for other LM courses and on the third level [research doctorates]) and the breadth of the catchment area.

From the academic year 2020-2021 the course has taken a new name: Historical Studies. From Ancient to Contemporary, as the training offer has been expanded to include ancient history teachings.

The course has advanced training objectives that allow graduates in Historical Studies both to access the admission tests necessary to start research experiences through doctorates and to acquire the ECTS required for teaching History in high schools; or to enter the world of work, for example in the sectors of communication of historical knowledge (periodical editorial staff, publishing, cultural cooperatives, multimedia content production companies).
