Introduction

Electricity is the key factor of sustainable development. The challenges of energy and the decarbonisation of production processes, as well as the electrification of transport, place electrical systems and digital control systems at the basis of any solution to overcome polluting technologies based on combustion.

Through lessons, seminars, technical visits and internships in collaboration with the best production and research companies in the sector, at the University of Trieste we learn how electrical systems and digital control systems allow the growing use of renewable sources , converting them into electricity. The continuous and safe availability of electricity is achieved thanks to the innovation of electrical infrastructures, which must be designed (electrical energy engineering) and managed (control systems engineering) in an efficient, eco-compatible and event-resilient way caused by climate change. The more efficient use of energy and the performance improvement of processes is based on electrical and automatic technologies, without which we could not talk about robotics, mechatronics, industry 4.0, smart cities, electric mobility.
