Introduction
The Master's Degree Course in Clinical Engineering develops training in the field of bioengineering, providing a specialized training path in the field of Clinical Engineering, through a broad spectrum of teachings and laboratories dedicated to advanced methodological and application themes of Biomedical Technologies in society Information. Since the 2015/16 academic year, alongside the professionalising specialist path, a Biomedical Engineering path has been activated aimed at those who are most interested in developing skills in the field of research that can be used immediately in territorial, local and national structures and companies. The biomedical path includes in-depth studies in the fields of tissue bioengineering, molecular biology and the analysis of biomedical signals. From the AY 2021/22, in the Biomedical Engineering curriculum, there will be 3 paths: 1. biomedical instrumentation design, signal and image analysis and bioinformatics, 2. biomaterials and tissue engineering, 3. biomechanics. The Degree Course takes place in the Department of Engineering and Architecture based in Trieste with the collaboration of experts from the world of healthcare, industry and regional health administrations as well as some teachers belonging to the Department of Physics, the Department of Vita and the University Clinical Department of Medical, Surgical and Health Sciences. Training takes place through courses that include internships, projects and degree theses carried out within qualified research groups, and in collaboration with prestigious national and international healthcare, hospital and industrial institutions. The course in Clinical Engineering inherits the contents of the well-known School of Specialization in Clinical Engineering of the University of Trieste, which for 12 years (1991-2003) trained all specialist clinical engineers operating in Italian healthcare and hospital structures and in some other abroad (Great Britain, United States, Croatia, Brazil) and was born from the transformation of the specialist degree in Clinical Engineering of the University of Trieste (2003-2010) into an inter-university master's degree with the University of Padua (2011-2015), which since 2016/17 it has been carried out entirely at the University of Trieste.
