Key Summary

About: The Master in Mechatronics Engineering focuses on the integration of mechanical, electronic, software, and control engineering. Students gain hands-on experience through labs and projects aimed at solving real-world engineering problems. The program typically runs for two years and combines theoretical knowledge with practical applications.
Career Outcomes: Graduates can pursue careers as mechatronics engineers, robotics engineers, automation specialists, and systems engineers. They can work in industries such as manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, and robotics. Opportunities may also exist in research and development roles or further academic pursuits.

Introduction

The Master's degree program in Mechatronics Engineering at the University of Trento is designed to enhance the prospects of future mechatronics engineers. It efficiently enables them to plan, understand, and implement R&D (Research and Development) projects for new products in the industry and beyond the traditional industrial domain.

Students will develop a range of modern methods, including Quality Function Deployment (QFD), for the design, development, and, more generally, management of the entire life cycle of new industrial products, which are composed of a physical-mechanical base integrated with automation technologies and new materials, and their related development and manufacturing resources, tools, and processes (Concurrent Engineering). On these grounds, students acquire the ability to create new mechanical/mechatronic industrial products and go beyond simple industrial implementation.

The Master's degree program in Mechatronics Engineering is particularly addressed to students who demonstrate a thorough grounding in scientific disciplines (e.g. Mathematics, Physics) and basic knowledge of Industrial Engineering.

Program Overview

The Master's degree program in Mechatronics Engineering is a two-year, full-time program taught in English.

Overall, students will be provided with a global system-level view of the design of mechanical systems and will acquire the ability to understand the impact of new technologies on products and production systems, as well as managerial skills to organize projects with a complete view of the entire life cycle of products.

The Master's degree program in Mechatronics Engineering is designed to respond to the expanding demand for highly qualified professionals who efficiently deal with the development of new products and new concepts, the periodic and increasingly frequent renewal of existing product lines, the renewal of methods and technologies of production, and related capital goods for production.
