Key Summary
The Inter-University Master in Energy Engineering is offered jointly by the University of Trento, Department of Civil, Environmental and Mechanical Engineering and the Free University of Bolzano, Faculty of Engineering. Until 2029 applications and admission to the Master in Energy Engineering will be managed by the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, Italy.
The first year offers a core set of fundamental courses designed to build a solid foundation in energy engineering. Key topics include an overview of conventional and renewable energy resources, the principles and technologies behind the management and operation of energy conversion plants, and the analysis of energy use across major application sectors, such as residential and commercial buildings. These courses equip students with the essential knowledge and tools to understand, evaluate, and optimise energy systems in diverse real-world contexts.
At the second year, you can choose between two curricula, each tailored to a distinct area of energy engineering:
Technologies for Energy Efficiency
This curriculum equips students with the skills to analyse, design, and optimise energy consumption in end-use applications, such as buildings, industrial processes, and distribution networks.
Renewable and Innovative Technologies for Energy Supply
This curriculum focuses on the study and application of advanced technologies for producing and managing energy from renewable sources, like water, wind, and biomass.
Both curricula prepare students to address current and future challenges in sustainable energy systems.
Please see the Master’s degree web page for more details.
The Master’s in Energy Engineering equips you with the essential skills and knowledge to become a leader in the energy sector by empowering you to apply a diverse set of interdisciplinary competencies to your professional endeavors, preparing you for the challenges and opportunities of the industry.
In this program, you will learn to design and develop effective and innovative technological solutions to spearhead the energy transition and facilitate the achievement of carbon neutrality.
Please see the Master’s degree web page for more details.
The Master's degree in Energy Engineering will prepare you to become a professional capable of tackling complex and advanced problems in energy engineering or issues that require an interdisciplinary approach. You will emerge as a well-rounded professional, ready to drive innovation and progress in these strategic domains.
Energy engineers will work as independent professionals or in public and private companies, energetic and thermo-energetic industries and public and private utilities.
Graduates can also access Doctoral Schools if they prefer to continue studying.
