Introduction

The Engineering Programmes, offered by the School of Information Technology, Engineering, Mathematics & Physics (STEMP), provide training to suit the workforce needs of the region, especially for the USP member countries. The two STEMP engineering programmes: Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronics, and Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical, have received accreditation from the Institute of Professional Engineers New Zealand (IPENZ).

Engineering degrees accredited by IPENZ are recognized as meeting the initial academic requirements for professional engineers.

The Bachelor of Engineering degree is a four-year programme comprising thirty-two courses, eight at the 100-level, eight at the 200-level, sixteen at the 300-level, plus an industrial attachment and workshop practice component.

Both programmes have the same admission regulations and have prescribed sets of courses, plus an industrial attachment and workshop practice component.
