Content and objective of the program
This program is a combined 3-year Bachelor's and 2.5-year Master's degree. Essential to music theory majors are skills in harmony and voice leading, music analysis and instrumentation, as well as instrument studies. As a bachelor’s student, you will also study aural skills and music history.
Teachers
Our teachers are some of the best experts in their respective fields. In addition to the permanent teaching staff, the program welcomes international top experts as visiting teachers on a regular basis. Many of our teachers are also esteemed, researchers.
- A student who has completed a Bachelor’s degree is expected to be familiar with music theory as an academic discipline,
- to identify areas of interest for himself/herself within it, and to be able to participate in discussions in the field orally and in writing;
- have a hands-on experience to musical performance and to writing about music and to be able to use the theoretical concepts and analytical methods acquired in his/her expert duties,
- and be familiar with the basics of pedagogy in his/her field.
Graduates of the program work in demanding roles of music expert and music pedagogue, for example as teachers, journalists, researchers, and musicians.
