Curriculum
What you’ll study
The Master of Nursing is a graduate entry coursework degree that will prepare you for professional practice as a registered nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia. The course is accredited by the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council and will provide you with the highest quality person-centred care, preparing you for work in local, national and international healthcare settings.
You will complete a prescribed course of study focusing on the health system, nursing practice and its contexts, and care across the lifespan and include specific clinical areas such as mental health nursing, community health nursing and acute care nursing. You will also complete a minimum of 860 hours of professional experience in private and public hospitals, mental health services, community health centres and schools.
Professional practice
An essential feature of our pre-registration nursing degrees is a structured off-campus Professional Experience Placement (also referred to as Student Clinical Experience) program undertaken in a variety of practice settings.
They are designed to introduce you to the profession of nursing through both clinical and theoretical components.
Before each clinical placement, you will practice your skills in our clinical labs and high-fidelity simulation wards.
Placement sites include private and public hospitals, mental health services, community health centres and, schools. The majority of clinical placements occur within the Sydney metropolitan area but you will have the opportunity to undertake clinical placements in regional or remote areas around NSW or interstate.
