Introduction

Please note: this course is now closed for international applicants for 2023. It remains open for UK applicants.

Nanoscience and the study of nanomaterials bring together all facets of science to study, understand and apply all things small.

Nanomaterials have had a profound influence on the direction of research ever since the scaleable production of tiny materials became possible. Now, researchers apply nanomaterials in areas of research and future technologies that will solve many of our societal needs – from bone and muscular regeneration to new-age batteries.

Materials physics and nanoscience are among the fastest growing and most exciting areas of research at Sussex. Studying with us, you’ll learn how to apply the fundamentals of physics and chemistry to nanomaterials and their emerging technologies.

This course is for you if you have a physics, chemistry and/or engineering background and are interested in an academic or industrial career in nanomaterials.
