Introduction
International financial law plays a central role in global business transactions due to the increasing dependence of the world’s economies on the financial system. As a result, there’s an increasing demand for professionals with expertise in international financial law.
On this course, you’ll learn from today’s leading lawyers whose research underpins their teaching. You’ll:
- gain an insight into regulatory issues affecting major transactions in global financial markets
- learn to interpret and draft complex international financial contracts
- find out about fintech regulation, including cryptocurrencies
- explore international capital and liquidity rules applicable to banks
- engage with domestic and international developments from practical, regulatory and policy perspectives on financial and corporate law.
This course prepares you for your future career. It has skills training at its core, helping you approach legal problems logically. You’ll develop a comprehensive understanding of:
- the financial services industry
- how to identify and prevent money laundering
- sustainable and green finance

We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology. We’re planning to run these modules in the academic year 2023/24. However, there may be changes to these modules in response to feedback, staff availability, student demand or updates to our curriculum. We’ll make sure to let you know of any material changes to modules at the earliest opportunity.
We’ll do our best to provide as much optional choice as we can, but timetabling constraints mean it may not be possible to take some module combinations. The structure of a small number of courses means that the order of modules or the streams you choose may determine whether modules are core or optional. This means that your core modules or options may differ from what’s shown here.
