Key Summary
Acquired competencies allow graduates to analyse political, economic and social phenomena on an international scale and to reflect on the complexity of the contemporary world. Graduates are well-suited for high-level positions in national and international companies, agencies, organisations and institutions, both public and private.
The Master’s Degree Program aims to provide methodological, cultural, and professional knowledge of an interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary nature, particularly in the legal, economic, political science, sociological, historical, and linguistic fields. This knowledge is intended to develop the ability to understand and analyse issues related to the international dimension of political, economic, and social phenomena. Such foundations are designed to prepare graduates to take on high-level professional roles in activities at the national, European, and international levels, in both the public and private sectors.
The opportunity to undertake internships or traineeships in private companies, national and international public institutions and administrations, non-governmental organisations, and the non-profit sector provides a significant opportunity to test and apply the analytical tools acquired.
Several scholarship options are available, please visit the university website for information.
The program is structured into three curricula in Italian:
- International and Diplomatic Sciences;
- Development and International Cooperation.
in English:
- European Studies
Upon completion of the program, graduates develop the skills needed to critically address the most important and current issues in the fields of international law, politics, and economics, with particular attention to the historical roots and global scope of each phenomenon. These skills enable them to design and oversee highly complex projects and operational strategies in the fields of international relations, development cooperation, and European Union policies.
The Master’s Degree Program prepares graduates for entry into public administration, European institutions, and international organisations, training them for professional roles in diplomacy, international service, and public and corporate management. Likewise, the program prepares students for professional positions in the management and administration of national and international non-governmental and non-profit organisations engaged in international relations, human rights, development cooperation, and humanitarian interventions in crisis areas.
Professional Profile and Career Opportunities for Graduates
The program aims to train graduates capable of taking on managerial roles within national and international organizations as experts in the implementation of public policies and in internationalization processes; of carrying out consulting, design, drafting, and management of projects in the field of international cooperation, assuming responsibilities in national and supranational, governmental and non-governmental organizations; of working as policy-making experts within public and European institutions; of assuming positions of responsibility to support the functioning of representative institutions at the national level, within international organizations, both governmental and non-governmental, European institutions, and international relations offices of public administrations and private companies.
Graduates will possess expertise in international law, economic and financial analysis, global political scenario analysis, and the reconstruction and interpretation of the historical roots of international events. They will master the comparative method as well as analytical and cognitive tools specific to the areas in which the international dimension of economic, political, and social phenomena unfolds. They will also achieve written and oral proficiency in at least two foreign languages. Based on these skills, they will be able to develop and apply management and organisational strategies in their professional fields.
Career Opportunities
Typical career paths for graduates of the program include:
- Diplomatic service;
- European institutions;
- International governmental and non-governmental organisations;
- Development cooperation agencies;
- Companies and other private organisations operating internationally (multinational corporations, banks, insurance companies, professional associations, and volunteer organisations);
- Ministerial offices, embassies, consulates, cultural institutes abroad;
- Research and study centres.
The teaching method, which goes beyond traditional lectures and also includes seminars, research activities, practical exercises, and group work, aims to foster in students the ability to analyse, organise, and evaluate information with a critical mindset. The multidisciplinary nature of the Master’s Degree Program allows students to reflect independently on contemporary complexity, whether it is represented by political and social changes or by long-term historical and economic processes.
