Key Summary
The acquired knowledge and professionalism allow the graduate to carry out work with managerial and consultancy functions, as well as to participate in groups for the elaboration of projects and the evaluation of investments in the environmental and social field.
The Master’s Degree Program in Statistical Methods and Data Analytics is aimed at preparing graduates with the ability to integrate effectively into public or private sectors in order to carry out activities involving the rationalisation and management of information databases, the design and implementation of statistical surveys useful for understanding socio-economic and environmental phenomena.
Since its establishment, formerly Statistical Sciences for Sample Surveys, the program has always been characterised by a limited number of enrolled students, self-selected upon entry, and with typically quantitative backgrounds. In the past year, the Committee has set the goal of gradually increasing enrollments, and for this reason, significant changes have been made, leading to the new title “Statistical Methods and Data Analytics.”
The cultural and professional profile of the graduate with a Master’s degree in Statistical Methods and Data Analytics is characterized by an adequate knowledge of the main statistical analysis techniques, an adequate knowledge of the procedures for acquiring and managing data derived both from traditional sources and from new sources (big data, open data), and of the methodologies for their analysis through the use of programming languages specific to data science; in addition to the analysis of relationships between variables, multidimensional data analysis, experimental design, and the interpretation of their results.
Several scholarship options are available, please visit the university website for information.
Economic-Environmental Analyst
The course prepares for the profession of an economic analyst specialising in environmental economics.
Graduates of the Master’s Degree in Economics for the Environment and Sustainability can aspire to all those professional positions, both public and private, that require mastery of solid interpretative tools in the economic field, versatility, and the ability to analyse and make decisions in a context characterised by complexity and change. In particular, they may be employed in the analysis and development of environmental policies, sustainable development projects, and the management and enhancement of environmental and historical-cultural resources. They will be able to carry out the evaluation of environmental damages and, more generally, of the so-called non-market goods. They may practice as consultants and eco-managers in the field of certification; in economic-environmental consulting; in collaboration with companies and institutions for the planning and implementation of environmental and social investments; and contribute to the governance of companies managing local public services (utilities).
Thanks to solid economic-quantitative knowledge, graduates of the EAS program are not excluded from entering the banking-financial sector, with particular reference to the field of ethical finance.
The graduate of the Master’s Degree in Economics for the Environment and Sustainability will be able to work (possibly following further specialisation in a PhD program) as an economist and economic-environmental analyst at universities, research centres, and national and international agencies.
