The Master’s degree course in Health Biology has as its primary objective the training of a Biologist with specific skills in the field of Biomedical and Health Sciences.

The demand for this profile comes from the labor market and in particular from food analysis, genetic, histological and clinical biochemistry laboratories, in the public and private health sector and from structures that carry out research in the field of applied biomedical sciences (ex. pharmaceutical industries, small and medium enterprises in the diagnostic and biotechnology sector, etc.).

This course provides a suitable cultural basis for access to Bio sanitary Specialization Schools recognized by the Ministry of Health (necessary for the managerial career in both public and private laboratory), Research Doctorates in the biomedical field and II level Master.

After you have applied, an Enrolment Committee will assess your competences and skills against the requirements of the MSc program.

The admission to the Master of a graduate who is in possession of a degree awarded by a foreign University or an equivalent foreign institute is evaluated by the Didactic Committee through a case by case assessment, considering the documentation received through online procedures, on the basis of the relevance and consistency of the qualification obtained abroad (and of the entire training course) with the training objectives of the Master, as well as linguistic knowledge.

For access to the Master’s Degree Program, adequate preparation is required on basic subjects such as:

chemistry (general, organic and physical), computer science,

biology (in particular functional, cellular and molecular aspects at the base of the organization of the living and of the molecular mechanisms that regulate inheritance, reproduction and development)

In order to take the MSc courses, students must have an adequate knowledge of the English language, at least of level B1 as established by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Students can demonstrate to possess the required knowledge level either through a recognized international certification (see the list) of international certifications recognized by the University of Siena), or by passing a B2 level exam at the Centro Linguistico di Ateneo (CLA).

This Master’s degree program prepares for employment in

universities and public and private biomedical research institutions,

pharmaceutical and diagnostic products industries,

toxicological and environmental study and detection centers;

institutions responsible for the development of technical regulations or quality certification;

industries interested in the development of biological and biochemical applications in the health field.

It also allows teaching in secondary school of I and II degree.
