The Bachelor’s Degree in Management Engineering aims to train professionals capable of managing technological systems and business processes. Graduates in management engineering are characterised by an interdisciplinary approach that combines solid engineering knowledge with specific skills in economic and managerial analysis methods and decision-making techniques. Graduates must also ensure that technological choices are consistent with corporate strategy and with the sectoral context in which the organisation operates.
Learning Objectives
The program aims to provide skills and methodologies related to the organisation, management, and optimisation of business processes, as well as the management and implementation of information engineering technologies. The specific educational objectives of the degree program in Management Engineering are:
- to provide a solid foundation in the areas of mathematics, physics, computer science, and statistics;
- to structure training around the essential elements of decision-making models and techniques, as well as economic and organisational analysis, in relation to the fundamental content of information engineering disciplines (computer science, automation, electrical systems);
- to focus professional skills in one of the following two domains: a) management of information technologies; b) management of business processes.
Several scholarship options are available, please visit the university website for information.
Courses and Educational Activities
The program is structured into two curricula:
- Management of Business Processes
- Management of Information Technologies
In the first year, students receive basic instruction in mathematics, physics, computer science, and economics. The second and third years include courses designed to provide specific skills in the key areas of management engineering, in particular the fundamentals of economic and organisational analysis (management control) and decision-making models and techniques (operations research, statistics), in addition to those of information engineering disciplines (computer science, automation, electrical systems). When defining their study plan, students can choose to complete their training in one of the following domains:
- Management of information technologies: disciplines typical of information engineering (electronics, telecommunications, automation, computer science) are introduced and consolidated.
- Management of business processes: disciplines of industrial engineering (applied mechanics, industrial systems, and sustainable technologies for energy and the environment) are introduced, while consolidating the field of management engineering.
The skills developed during the study program can be directly applied in small and medium-sized enterprises in both the services and manufacturing sectors, as well as in public administration. Graduates may take on roles in ICT technology management, business process management, strategic planning and management control, environmental services management, the introduction and management of digital tools and technologies for business administration, regulatory, technical, and tariff management of local public services, project management, investment analysis, production and logistics management, and models and applications for decision support.
Internships and Other International Opportunities
The faculty’s extensive network of relationships makes it possible to offer a wide range of internships with both private and public companies. Internships and placements abroad are managed at the University level through dedicated service structures. As for international student mobility, the Department currently participates in around 50 Erasmus exchange programs. Student support is provided through dedicated University services and, at the Department level, by faculty coordinators of individual mobility agreements and by the Presidents of the Study Programs.
