Introduction

The Creative and Professional Writing Program at Pitt-Greensburg is a rigorous and enriching program designed to nurture your love of writing and literature while preparing you for a career in an ever-changing world. Our classes are small, and all of our faculty members are award-winning authors and teachers who look forward to working with you as you develop your craft. We are passionate about what we do and look forward to sharing our love of books and writing with you.

Upon graduation, our alumni have gone on to study at some of the top graduate writing programs in the country, including the Iowa Writers Workshop and Columbia University. Many of our alumni are working in the publishing industry as editors and reporters, and many land positions working in new media as content generators and professional writers for corporations. An undergraduate degree in Creative and Professional Writing is also excellent preparation for law school, careers in social services, and teaching.

As a student majoring or minoring in Creative and Professional Writing, you will read broadly and deeply. You’ll develop essential critical and editorial skills across genres and forms and will benefit from the experience of working in a vibrant, engaged and passionate community of writers devoted to the literary life.
