The programme provides essential knowledge in chemistry, microbiology, and mechanical engineering for understanding water and wastewater treatment. Students also study automation, quality assurance, business economics, and gain hands-on experience in calculations and laboratory work.
Modules cover natural sciences (physics, chemistry, mathematics, mechanics, geology, limnology, microbiology), economics & humanities (management, communication, law, quality, business), water engineering (hydraulics, hydrology, geotechnics, water facilities, purification, sewage treatment, safety, energy management), and specializations (environmental analysis, biotechnology, water & soil protection, waste management). Students complete a diploma thesis and electives.
By completing this programme, engineers are equipped to work across a diverse range of water-related fields, gaining expertise that is highly sought after in both industry and research. Career opportunities include:
- Water treatment in nuclear power plants
- Water recycling solutions for small and large-scale industrial facilities
- Production of highly purified and ultra-pure water for the pharmaceutical industry
- Irrigation water management in agriculture
- Technological water applications in the food industry
- Operations at municipal waterworks
- Water treatment and recycling in the oil and petrochemical sector
- Leachate treatment at landfills and waste management sites
Graduates leave the programme with the technical skills and practical knowledge to design, optimize, and manage water systems across multiple industries, contributing to both environmental sustainability and industrial efficiency.
