Course Overview
The BEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering is a multidisciplinary course. It has the widest technical range of all our courses, allowing you to study a variety of topics including electronic design, communications, software engineering, computer modelling, microelectronics, power generation and distribution, electrical machines, signal processing, renewable energy systems and instrumentation.
We employ hands-on project work wherever possible to develop practical and problem-solving skills. Challenging engineering design projects will enhance your group-working skills while individual projects, which have significant industrial input, will enable you to enhance your skills and understanding in a chosen specialist area.
Special features
- You will have the opportunity to gain relevant industrial experience during your degree course. Our industrial liaison officer maintains links with many companies and can assist students in arranging summer and year-out placements.
- Our BEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering course is accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET).
- Many students will have the opportunity to take up to a year out to study abroad at a top international university (including our UK and Malaysia campuses) and in universities within the Universitas 21 group.
Accreditations
Our BEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering course is accredited by The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET).

To encourage academic excellence, we offer a comprehensive and expanding range of full and partial scholarships.
Historically, nearly 30% of our undergraduate students were awarded scholarships for their entry. Once enrolled, current students are eligible for additional merit and/or performance-based scholarships and awards, which covers approximately 32.5% of our whole student body.
Please check the school website for scholarship types and policies for applicants from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and overseas countries. If you are a mainland Chinese student, please visit the Chinese language prospectus.
Electrical and electronic engineering continues to be a resilient industry. Our graduates are sought after by a large number of major international companies for recruitment, and we also organise career fairs each year.
Most of our graduates pursue further careers in the engineering sector, but others use the skills developed during the course to work in IT, consultancy, finance, commerce or education.
