About: The MA in Literacy Education prepares educators to teach and assess reading and writing across ages. The curriculum blends research-based coursework, field experiences and practicum to build skills in phonics, word recognition, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, writing instruction, assessment and interventions. You’ll study reading development, literacy acquisition, cultural and linguistic diversity, digital literacy and family and community partnerships while applying that learning in internships with mentors.
Career Outcomes: Graduates may work as literacy specialists, reading coaches, curriculum developers, and literacy advocates, or as certified reading teachers, interventionists, assessment specialists or program coordinators in K-12 schools, adult education, colleges and nonprofits.
