About : The Major in Sculpture provides students with practical skills in sculptural techniques and concepts. You'll engage with a variety of materials and fabrication methods while exploring contemporary practices in sculpture. This program emphasizes creativity, critical thinking, and artistic expression as you develop your unique artistic voice. The course structure includes hands-on studio work, critiques, and exploration of historical and theoretical contexts.

Career Outcomes : Graduates can pursue diverse career paths in fields such as fine arts, installation art, art direction, or exhibition design. Opportunities also exist in education, curation, and public art projects, allowing students to engage with the art community both creatively and professionally.

The sculpture program introduces and encourages exploration into many processes, materials, and contemporary concepts, using a 3-D multi-media approach.

Listed are some of the opportunities for beginning and advanced students:

Bronze and aluminum casting, using the ceramic shell mold processes.

Fabrication in steel, using MIG and TIG welding, plasma cutting, and sheet metal forming.

A well-equipped woodshop for assemblage sculpture and other projects involving wood.

A 3-D printer is also available.

These tools and processes may be used in the production of 3-D objects (both indoor and outdoor), and may also be applied to installation/environmental work.
