Key Summary

About: The Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) at the University of Nicosia gives integrative scientific and clinical training grounded in the One Health concept. Students study normal and pathological biology, animal production, genetics, anatomy and clinical skills. Curriculum maps to Day One Skills set by RCVS, AVMA, EAEVE and WOAH. The programme provides animal exposure, EU‑wide recognition and Student Success Team with tutors and career advisers.

Career Outcomes: Graduates may work as clinical veterinarians, research scientists, public‑health vets, epidemiologists, zoo and wildlife vets or production‑animal specialists. The degree supports registration across EU/EEA/EFTA and helps prepare for licensure exams including NAVLE.

The Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program for high school leavers is designed to offer first-class scientific and clinical training in veterinary medicine. An integrative approach has been adopted to deliver knowledge horizontally and vertically for the students to understand the multifaceted science underpinning veterinary practice and research.

The program enables students to understand the basic biological principles of normal body function and disease, and the ability to distinguish the pathological from the normal, to prevent disease and safely manage the processes of animal production. The primary educational goal of the DVM program is to prepare graduates for a productive career within the veterinary medical profession, while at the same time giving them a strong academic foundation to pursue a research career.

An inter-professional education (IPE) policy has been developed aiming at a multi-disciplinary, delivery scheme under the One Health concept ensuring that Veterinary students interact with students in related professional degrees. The IPE policy serves to strengthen the School’s Student-Centred Education Plan.
