The Master of Advanced Studies in International Taxation (MASIT) offered by the Tax Policy Center of the University of Lausanne (UNIL), Switzerland is aimed at those wishing to practice tax law with a law or consulting firm, a bank, as an in-house counsel to a company or with the tax administration. As the MASIT is designed for those practicing abroad or in Switzerland, it offers both an International tax and Swiss tax curriculum which may be undertaken on a part-time basis (1.5 years) or on a full-time basis (1 year). Both curriculums take into account latest tax policy developments (for instance implementation of the G20/OECD BEPS initiative, EU Anti-avoidance package, exchange of information, tax and money laundering issues and so on). The 60 ECTS credits of the program are composed of Core Courses to enhance the understanding of key concepts, Specializations to deepen insight in a chosen focus area and a Master Thesis to augment research & writing skills. The courses are taught by distinguished faculty members, who comprise of leading academics, government officials, members of the OECD/EU, practitioners working in international consulting/law firms and in legal departments of major corporations. The focus of the Master’s degree in Foundations and Practices of Sustainability is on so-called “strong” sustainability, that is to say the challenges associated with the reduction and limitation of flows of energy and matter, so that our economic activities become once again compatible with the biosphere and its many processes. Its objective is to train future protagonists who have the capacity to lead and support the transition of our societies towards ecologically and socially sustainable solutions. It aims to transmit the tools needed for analysis and reflection as well as the know-how required to establish a link between theoretical principles and innovative practices capable of meeting the challenges of the ecological transition.

Information technologies are now an integral part of our day-to-day lives and changing all the time; understanding their implications therefore requires a multidisciplinary approach. The Master of Law (MLaw) in Legal Issues, Crime and Security of Information Technologies (DCS), offered jointly by the Faculty of Law, Criminal Justice and Public Administration (FDCA) and the Faculty of Business and Economics (HEC Lausanne), uses a cross-disciplinary approach to offer a cutting-edge programme aimed at understanding the problems raised by information technologies in legal, IT and criminal terms.

Master of Law (MLaw) in Legal Issues, Crime and Security of Information Technologies

Organised jointly by the Faculty of Law, Criminal Justice and Public Administration and the Faculty of Business and Economics (HEC Lausanne), this programme is intended to supplement initial training in law and/or economics with an interdisciplinary approach, allowing students from each of these two fields to acquire a thorough knowledge of the other discipline. There is indeed a manifest need for professionals who can combine a thorough knowledge of law with a good understanding of economics. At a time when transversal skills are increasingly important, the Masters offers law students and economics students the possibility of acquiring knowledge relevant to different economic sectors of the world of business.

Master of Law in Law and Economics

This Master’s degree is required for admittance to the Swiss Federal Examination in Medicine, which is common to all Swiss Medicine Faculties and is governed by the requirements of the Federal Law on the Medical Professions. The Master’s course enables students to develop the necessary skills at the right level of knowledge, know-how and behavioural skills to deal with all common medical situations from their first day of practice (according to the requirements indicated in PROFILES, the national reference framework for undergraduate medical teaching).

Master of Medicine

The main programme areas are financial accounting, management control, corporate finance, external auditing and tax. The Master’s programme benefits from significant support from teaching staff in the Department of Accounting and Control, as well as the Department of Business and Tax Law. The programme works closely with the major audit firms (PWC, EY, KPMG and Deloitte), which not only cover a significant amount of classes but also recruit a large number of graduates every year. The MACF also receives support from senior managers in the Swatch group and Pictet bank, who are renowned for their professional expertise.

This Master’s degree offers a complete basic education for future actuaries. An actuary is a business professional who deals with the financial impact of risk and uncertainty, typically in insurance firms, multinationals and pension funds. Most of the subjects taught involve applied mathematics, the actuary’s most important working tool. Good knowledge of management, finance, economics and information technology is also necessary to ensure an adequate level of professional expertise.

Organised by the Institute of Higher Education and Research in Healthcare – IUFRS, the aim of the course is to train you to work as an advanced practice nurse (APN), providing direct care to patients and their families, according to your clinical orientation and as part of a nurse-doctor partnership.
