Key Summary

About: The Diploma or Extended Diploma in Management Services at the University of Johannesburg develops applied and cognitive competencies in acquiring, interpreting, understanding and applying management information and decision-support. You’ll learn to analyze company and environmental data, explain systems in a business context, assess external impacts of decisions, and reflect on managerial choices across specialized management functions to contextualize learning and design workplace improvements and interventions. The programme is set within a vibrant, multicultural Johannesburg campus with student support, sports facilities, research activity and outreach.

Career Outcomes: Graduates enter roles like business analyst, operations manager, management consultant, project manager broadly.

The aim of the qualification is to develop the student’s applied and cognitive competencies in the acquisition, interpretation, understanding, and application of management information and decision support. The student should be able to analyze and explain the company and environmental data, information, and systems in the context of a company and its business environment, and to assess and interpret the external impact of decisions. The student should also be able to reflect on his/her managerial decisions and applications to assess the effect thereof in the holistic context of specialized management functions in industry, in order to contextualize their learning to their business environment and to appreciate improvements and interventions they can affect in their working environments.
