About: The Bachelor of Environmental Health (BEH) at the University of Johannesburg gives graduates a solid knowledge base in environmental health, skills to evaluate scientific information, and analytical competencies. It supports further study, research, ethical professional conduct and leadership as required by the Health Professions Council of South Africa. UJ offers a First Year Experience and Senior Student Experience, on‑campus health services, sports facilities, international partnerships, research growth and student support, including financial aid.

Career Outcomes: Graduates can work in environmental and public health, including environmental health practitioner; public health officer; occupational health and safety inspector; food safety officer; environmental health researcher.

The purpose of the BEH program is to produce graduates who have a systematic and coherent body of knowledge to apply principles and practices of Environmental Health; the ability to access and evaluate scientific information and have a high level of analytical, cognitive, and generic skills; To provide graduates opportunities for continued personal intellectual growth, advancing with postgraduate study, contributing to the social upliftment of society constructively; To provide society with graduates who demonstrate initiative and responsibility; be involved in science and research development; to transform the leadership base in South Africa and conduct themselves in a professional and ethical manner both in the workplace and society as required by the HPCSA.
