About: The University of Hertfordshire Foundation in Art & Design prepares you for undergraduate study in design and creative arts. You'll develop core skills and a portfolio through practical projects in product, industrial, interior/spatial, graphic and illustration pathways, using facilities like 3D printers, motion capture, workshops, darkrooms and post-production suites. Assessments may be adapted in 2021–22 because of the Coronavirus pandemic.
Career Outcomes: Graduates work across the design and creative industries, taking roles such as product designer, industrial designer, interior/spatial designer, graphic designer and illustrator, and joining architectural practices or product and packaging design consultancies in the UK and abroad.
"Due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, examinations may be replaced by an alternative form of assessment during the academic year 2021/2022. Please refer to the Programme Specification on these pages for further details."
Our vibrant School of Creative Arts offers an inspiring and supportive environment in which to start your journey towards a creative career. Our film, media, design, visual arts, music and art therapy courses are all led by talented artists, experienced lecturers and industry experts.
We'll help you develop your creative curiosity by putting the latest technology at your fingertips, including 3D printers, a motion capture studio, a construction and carving workshop, jewellery benches, sound control rooms, darkrooms and post-production suites.
Design encompasses and touches virtually every aspect of our daily lives. As a designer, your creative decisions will determine the shape, look, feel and scope of the 'products' that people will buy and consume as part of their daily lives.
Our Design courses give you an opportunity to experience and develop the skills and processes involved in the professional practice of product design, industrial design, interior and spatial design, graphic design and illustration.
