The Master’s Degree Programme in “Law for Sustainability and Security”, with its two curricula “Law for Sustainability and Security” and “Global Peace, Justice and Wellbeing”, offers a rigorous and forward-looking legal education for those aspiring to professional roles in the fields of sustainability (economic, environmental, and social), security (both in its traditional forms and as reshaped by the digital revolution), and peace (at national and international levels).
At the heart of the programme lies the conviction that security and global justice are the essential foundations of sustainability, wellbeing, and peace. Development, peace, and wellbeing can be regarded as truly sustainable only insofar as they foster a context in which core values, such as health, physical integrity, environmental protection, and, more broadly, the full exercise of fundamental freedoms, are effectively safeguarded.
The program requires a total of 120 ECTS (CFU) across a two-year structure, offering distinct thematic blocks and choices:
First Year (60 ECTS): Introduces core multi-dimensional structures:
- People and the Market: Security and Sustainability (15 ECTS)
- Environment, Territory, and Public Goods (9 ECTS)
- Liberty, Security, and Cybersecurity (9 ECTS)
- Law of Inclusion (12 ECTS)
- Elective Focus: A choice between Legality and Anti-Corruption or Sustainable Economics and Ecological Transition (9 ECTS).
Second Year (60 ECTS): Moves into application and institutional frameworks, including Conflict Management and Sustainable Justice (12 ECTS), a choice between International Law & Peacekeeping or Welfare Models, and a choice between European Law of Internal/External Security or Social Objectives & Corporate Responsibility. It concludes with mandatory Innovative Legal Clinics (6 ECTS) and a Master's Thesis defense (18 ECTS).
