Curriculum
Research
The Department is the hub of an extensive research activity implemented by its members, often in connection with other research centers in Italy and abroad. The description of past and ongoing research projects can be found on the individual webpages of the members of the Department, or on specific pages/websites in the case of larger projects.
The results of the research activity in the area of legal sciences obtained in the University of Florence in the years 2004-2010 were considered to be the best in the country (among those of institutions of comparable dimension) in the first ranking of the quality of research published in 2013 by the National Agency for the Evaluation of the University System and of Research.
Program Outcome
The international curriculum in Theories of human rights – Law and society, genealogy and perspectives of legal thinking is implemented on the basis of agreements with two Brazilian universities, namely the Universidade Federal da Paraiba (UFPB) and the Universidade do Vale do Rio dos Sinos (UNISINOS).
All students admitted to the curriculum in Theories of human rights – Law and society, genealogy and perspectives of legal thinking will spend at least six months of the PhD course's three years in at least one of the two partner universities, other than the one hosting the PhD course they have applied to. At the end of this curriculum partner universities will jointly grant the PhD as "Dottore di ricerca" and the PhD as "Doutor em Direito".

The international curriculum in European and transnational legal studies is implemented in cooperation with Maastricht University.
