Introduction

The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in International Relations and Diplomacy is a research qualification that can be completed on a full-time or part-time basis. Students are expected to conduct advanced and original research leading to the completion of a Thesis (80,000 – 100,000 words including notes and bibliography).

The normal duration is 3 years of full-time study or 6 years of part-time study. The maximum period is 5 years for full-time students and 7 years for part-time students. This duration does not include the time it may take certain applicants to complete prerequisites including a Directed Research Project.
