Introduction

University Transfer Programme: Product Design – Industrial Product Design is the equivalent to the first year of your undergraduate Product Design degree. Upon completing the program, you will be eligible to progress to the second year of the Bachelor of Product Design degree at the University of Canterbury.

  • UC is leading the way with its multidisciplinary Bachelor of Product Design. Product Design combines creative design, science, engineering, and business studies. Product designers plan and develop items for use in homes, businesses, and industries.
  • Everyday products, such as microwave ovens, bicycles, mobile phones, and automated espresso coffee machines, resolve a need or problem and inspire a craving within a consumer. By specializing in Industrial Product Design, you learn how to create useful products that incorporate fundamental elements found in successful modern-day designs: a scientific or engineering principle and an appealing aesthetic. Gain the necessary skills and be part of an industry with a passion for innovation and create functional devices to assist people’s lives.
