Introduction

The curriculum Interpreting and Technologies for Communication (InTeCo) is part of the Master’s program in Interpreting. The Master’s program also includes a separate curriculum in Conference interpreting (ConfInt), which is taught in Italian and therefore will not be the focus here. InTeCo trains experts on technology-mediated interpreting. It is taught in English, partly on-campus in Forlì (in the first semester) and partly online (the following three semesters). Online teaching happens mostly on asynchronous platforms, meaning that you choose when to study and do not have to worry about different time zones.

What will you study?

InTeCo subjects include distance, technology-aided and technology-mediated interpreting, applied linguistics, and creation and transcreation of multimedia texts for business and institutional communication. Interpreting classes are taught by professional interpreters and can rely on cutting-edge remote interpreting platforms and tools. Non-interpreting classes are geared towards completing the interpreter’s profile to maximize employment opportunities. The curriculum is completed by a curricular internship and elective courses.

Experience Abroad

Students have the opportunity to spend time abroad at one or more of the world’s top Universities offering compatible courses, through Erasmus+ and Overseas programs, bilateral agreements, and special funding for working on one’s final thesis abroad.

5 reasons to Enroll on the Degree Program

  • You get to choose between two curricula – ConfInt with Italian and two other languages; and InTeCo with English, Italian, and one further language
  • Classes are taught in small groups. Trainers – who are professional interpreters – know you by your name, and their feedback is tailored to you
  • You get to practice what you learn, during classes and also in conferences and internships where you interpret for real audiences
  • You develop skills that you can immediately put to use on the job market, working freelance or in-house at companies or institutions
  • You will find cutting-edge facilities and a window into the world, with several foreign exchanges and connections with the EU’s interpreting services
