This Bachelor’s program is one of our TWIN programs, i.e. the Business and Engineering program taught in English (IBE) is basically identical to the program mainly taught in German (BWW). During the course of studies, students may switch languages and so acquire a TWIN Certificate at the end.

Due to the teaching’s orientation towards economic and technical matters, the program offers above-average career opportunities and security of employment. Lecturers who often gathered their experience in top management positions of companies teach up-to-date and future-oriented knowledge. To prepare students for their careers as well and practically as possible, many classes apply their learning content to issues in small, medium-sized, and big companies by cooperating with these companies. Students learn to meet managerial challenges with up-to-date skills in the economic-technical field as well as with professional, methodological, and social competence.

Program Structure

During the first three semesters, teaching concentrates on the basics of substantial sub-disciplines of business engineering: Natural sciences, engineering, economics, project management, and scientific/academic techniques.

From the 4th-semester specialization modules from the field of engineering or business can be chosen.

• BWW: for an engineering specialization, students can choose mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or mechatronics; for a business specialization, students can choose purchasing (mainly taught in English), production, sales, or controlling.
• IBE: An engineering specialization is possible in mechatronics or mechanical engineering; for a business specialization, students can choose production, purchasing, sales, or digital business.

There is an internship module (6th semester) that introduces students to the actual work of business engineers. Studies are completed by a bachelor’s thesis (7th semester) that discusses an (often practical) problem on a scientific basis.

Program objective

The objective of the English-taught bachelor’s program Business and Engineering is the independent application of analytical knowledge and procedures as well as the ability to act responsibly in the workplace and in society. To this end, we engage in practice-oriented teaching with an academic basis and provide engineering and business-related expertise, methodological competence, and social skills.

Our graduates have always had and will have excellent opportunities to start their professional careers. Job prospects will be especially good if you bring not only professional qualities, but also commitment, decisiveness, and social skills. Ideally, language skills and periods abroad complete your profile.

Career Perspectives

Due to the program’s mixture of technical and non-technical elements, graduates can choose from a broad variety of occupational fields to start their career: Marketing/distribution, logistics, materials management/purchasing; production, controlling, accounting, administration/organization, or data processing. Possible fields of activity are, for example, in producing and trading companies, engineering offices, banks, insurance companies, consulting firms, but also in the public sector or when establishing one’s own company.
