Introduction
The Master of Applied Politics (MAP), in cooperation with the Ray C. Bliss Institute of Applied Politics and The University of Akron Political Science Department, is one of only a handful of graduate programs in the United States focusing on practical politics and experiential learning. It is designed for students interested in election campaigns, digital strategy and messaging, fundraising, managing organizations, and other political activities. All applied politics classes are delivered synchronously online directly to studentsโ desktop computers with courses delivered live via a modern, highly efficient and robust synchronous tool. Please note that all classes are scheduled live following a schedule in the Eastern Time Zone.
Why Akron?
A MAP would allow a student a foothold in the world of politics in a variety of jobs. MAP students have also earned a Ph.D. in political science or related fields.
Applied politics is a discipline that is offered by only a few universities in the United States and the world.

Degree Requirements
Students must complete a minimum of 30 credits of graduate work composed of a core and elective courses, at least one internship, and a capstone presentation.

- Internship in Government & Politics (If students complete more than 3 credits of this course in fulfillment of their core requirements, the additional credit may be applied toward this elective category.)
MAP Capstone Project
All students are required to construct a PowerPoint (or other visual presentation) and defend a capstone project which demonstrates knowledge and skills earned while in the MAP program. The capstone presentation can be completed using distance learning/remote technology if the student cannot be present on the UA campus.
